This month, you can be a hero. How, you may ask? WE SCARE HUNGER! Now, you’re probably thinking, “What in the world is that?” Well, you have come to the right place. WE SCARE HUNGER is a program where you donate food such as:
- Canned fish
- Canned beans
- Canned veggies
- Canned fruit
- Nut butter
- Tomato sauce
- Black beans
- Whole grain cereal
- Hearty soup
If you want to donate, put your donation in a decorated box located inside your classroom. Now, why are we donating all this food? First of all, this food will be sent to a local food bank, to support families. Second, if we reach our goal of 500 items donated, we will receive… an extra recess! If your class is has the most items donated in the primary or intermediate divisions, your class will receive freezies for the whole class!
So next time you open a fresh pack of pasta, think about people less fortunate than you in the world. You can help by donating today!

As most of you know, British Columbia has a redesigned K-12 curriculum that is being phased in over the next three years. As a result, the Ministry of Education had announced a plan to support teachers in implementing this curriculum. It requires all school districts to schedule ten new hours of teacher training time or two additional non-instructional days, within the current 2015-2016 school year.
The District’s 2015/16 school calendar has now been amended and the following dates approved as additional non-instructional days: Tuesday, April 26 and Friday, May 13.
